Small Works Holiday Show this weekend!

We are in the final stages of preparation and the 2012 Princeton Arts Society Small Works Holiday Show promises to be one of the best ever! We have over 40 participating member artists. There will be hundreds of works on exhibit and for sale including a larger than ever selection of beautiful arts and crafts suitable for holiday gift giving.  As in the past we will even provide complimentary gift wrapping for smaller items. There will be a beautiful refreshment table and live music for the opening reception on Friday from 7 to 9 PM!

The event will take place in the Princeton Arts Society and the Senior Center at the Center Building on Boylston Avenue in Princeton.  The gallery/art shop hours will be from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and from 12 Noon to 4 PM on Sunday.

Of course, attendance will be the real key to success. See attached photos for a preview of some of the beautiful artworks available. Please spread the word and help bring in family, friends, art lovers, and holiday shoppers!

Art Materials Available to PAS Members

Thanks to the generosity of PAS member Judy Breen, the Princeton Arts Society has been given a fairly large quantity of unused lengths of wood and metal framing material as well as unopened boxes of picture glass of various sizes. We are making these items available to interested members in return for donations to the Society. As many of you know, Judy's husband, Steve, was a past president of PAS, an art instructor, and on the side he provided framing services for local artists for many years prior to his passing. Following are a few more details regarding available items.

Framing Material

There is a stock of thirty-five to fifty 7- to 10-foot lengths of wood and metal framing material in various colors, sizes and styles, from simple to ornate. A portion of these are in original protective wrapping. There is a supply of metal corners for assembling metal frames.

Glass

There are 4 to 5 unopened cartons of picture glass in sizes ranging from 16 x 20” to 24” and 26” x 36”. Some are regular glass while others are conservation quality glass.

These items would be perfect for members with appropriate cutting tools or for those who have an interest in learning to cut and make custom frames and glass.

Items are being offered for a donation to the Princeton Arts Society. Interested parties may send a note of interest to contact@princetonarts.org. Once we have determined who the interested members are we will arrange a date and time for viewing these items.

Thanks again to Judy Breen for thinking of the Princeton Arts Society.

Solo Show Opportunities for 2013

Dear Princeton Arts Society Member,

Over the last three years, the PAS has showcased the work of fifteen member artists. In 2013 we will enter our fourth year of providing this opportunity to artists and enriching the community in the process.

One-person shows are now being scheduled for each quarter of 2013: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December.  Each show can accommodate between 20 and 25 framed pieces of art. Art is evenly distributed and exhibited at the Princeton Branch of the Barre Bank and at Princeton’s Town Hall.

The Princeton Arts Society installs, markets, and oversees the shows and requires a 25% donation by the artists on all sales generated by the show. Members interested in scheduling a show should contact the Princeton Arts Society at contact@princetonarts.org.

Small Works Show coming up: Spread the word!

The Small Works Show and Holiday Sale is coming up soon! Please help spread the word in whatever ways you can—we’d like to bring in as many people as possible for this three-day event. We are also soliciting small works of art from our members (in any media and style) that would make an attractive holiday gift, as these will be another great fundraising source. You may drop these items off when you drop off your other entries on Saturday November 24th or Tuesday November 27th.

Thanks to those who have already volunteered to help with the event. A sign up sheet for opening reception food and beverages and for staffing the event will also be available at drop off times.  Questions regarding the event may be submitted to contact@princetonarts.org. Many thanks! –Len Haug, Exhibits Coordinator

Still Life Group Now “Studio 8”

The Still Life Group has been reincarnated as "Studio 8" to better reflect the open nature of our activity every Wednesday from 9:00 - 12:00 at our room in the Princeton Center, 18 Boylston Ave.  We bring our own art supplies and work in a variety of media.  Some of us bring a still life set-up.  Others work on a project of our choice.  We offer each other support, suggestions, and critique if requested by the artist.  The atmosphere is relaxed.  Bottom line, we have FUN.  Come and join us if you are looking for a little nudge to get those art supplies out of the closet.

Mountainside Market November Exhibit

More than 25 members of the Princeton Arts Society have their work on display at the Mountainside Market, 23 Hubbardston Rd. (Rt. 62) in Princeton for the month of November.  Stop in and grab a bite to eat or something to take home and enjoy the beautiful selection of artwork that includes oil paintings, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, photography, collage, sculpture, and even floral arrangements.  A special wine tasting and “meet the artists” is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, 3-5 pm, just in time for the holidays.
