Jean Murphy is exhibiting CUT and ALTERED PAPER ART at Papa Gino’s, 645 Chandler St., in Tatnuck Square, Worcester during the months of June and July.

A Greet The Artist Reception will be held ON FRIDAY JUNE 27th, 3 to 5pm. All are welcome.

CUT PAPER technique uses cut pieces of paper to create an image on a sturdy surface. This is scanned and printed and the print becomes the art which may be developed with more cut paper.

ALTERED PAPER ART is original art painted on magazine pages where the ink on the pages is dissolved by a solvent and forms a background for the painted image. Imagination suggests the direction of the image.

Papa Gino’s is open daily from 11 am to 10 pm.

Beth Mellorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18265366492624476344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4422453656377543161.post-4532960248099646972014-06-23T08:13:00.001-07:002014-06-23T08:13:25.746-07:00Congratulations to all PAS Spring Show Winners! On May 16, 2014 awards were presented by Len Haug to this year’s winners from among a wonderful group of works. The Princeton Arts Society, the Princeton Town Hall, and the Princeton Branch of the Barre Bank are proud to present a selection of art work created by students of the Thomas Prince School under the direction of art instructor, Anita Cook.

All of the work has been created during the current school year and was displayed as part of the school’s annual Community Arts Festival held in March. Art work includes various media including sculptures created with the shared theme of “Nature.”

Visitors will see flowers, owls, landscapes, and abstract interpretations of floral designs. Work may be viewed during standard business hours at the Bank and at the Town Hall through the end of April.

We are fortunate to have such a quality art program and such talented students from Princeton and surrounding towns.
Worcester, Massachusetts Briarwood Retirement Community hosted a private opening reception for artists of the Princeton Arts Society Portrait Group on Sunday, January 5. The exhibit entitled “FACES” was the first of six to be scheduled in The Gallery at Briarwood in the coming year. The next exhibit will be presented in March by a member of Briarwood’s Board of Directors, Sharon Smith-Viles and the Silk Road Art Guild of Central Massachusetts. A complete schedule for the year will be released at a later date.

The Gallery at Briarwood was the brainchild of the weekly “Art with Merry” class held at Briarwood. “One day the class suggested they have an exhibit. We walked down the hall and kept walking,” laughs Briarwood resident and class instructor Marilyn “Merry” Pratt. “The light bulb went off. We realized it was the perfect space for an art gallery. Residents from the entire campus exhibited their works October through December 2013. It was then we realized we had something very special for the community.”

“FACES” was presented to showcase the caliber of work that is produced from weekly portrait sittings at the Princeton Center, 18 Boylston Ave. in Princeton. The mission of the Princeton Arts Society is to foster interest in the arts and to promote the talents and skills of its members.

The Portrait Group meets year round on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and has a live model who sits for twenty-minute segments during that time. The group has a long history of portrait making. It is led by founding members Merry Pratt and Jean Murphy.

Artists may apply to exhibit at the Gallery at Briarwood and groups can schedule a tour by contacting Anita Thomas, Public Relations and Community Outreach Director at 508-852-9007 or amthomas@briarwoodsl.com
