The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Puppets are not just for children!
Shadow Puppet Extravaganza
On the weekend of November 19th and 20th,
Firefly Shadow Theater, in collaboration with the Princeton Arts Society, will
bring the exciting dramatic art of shadow puppetry to the area. Saturday, November 19th from 3-5pm,
a hands-on shadow puppet workshop, ideal for elementary-age children and
families, will take place at the First Congregational Church (14 Mountain Rd., Princeton). This
workshop combines performance, puppet-making, Q & A, and a glimpse behind
the scenes.
Sunday, November 20th,
from 5-6:30 pm at the Princeton Arts Society room in the Princeton Center
Building (18 Boylston Ave, Princeton), Firefly will perform the classic tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which
adults will especially enjoy. The
performance will be followed by Q & A, a brief history of this ancient art,
and a demonstration of traditional puppets from China,
India, Indonesia and Turkey. Contact Andrea Caspari at 978-464-5356 with questions.
Both
programs have been funded by the Princeton Cultural Council, a local agency,
which is supported by the Mass. Cultural Council, a state agency. Both programs are free. Refreshments provided!
