Congratulations to Len Haug for continued success with his beautiful works!

This has been a good year and month for me. In addition to acceptance at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit, I have within the last week been notified that the:

The Falmouth Artist Guild at the Falmouth Art Center has juried in my work titled "In the Shade of My Farm House" and it has, out of 74 pieces selected, been awarded "Best in Show." The show runs from Sep 19th to Oct 10th.

Lois Griffel, the internationally known pastel artist and juror for this show, supported her decision with the following comments " It would have been easy to be seduced by the sheer technicality of this piece. I gave it a great deal of study and saw that beyond the fact that it is made from such small pieces of paper, it was exceptionally realized as a painting. It is a difficult and unusual composition. The light effect is beautiful, especially in the dappled light on the house. The detail in this work is stunning. I cannot help but be fascinated by this work of art."


The Concord Art Association, now celebrating its 89th anniversary has juried in my work titled "Our Daily Thanksgiving" into the 11th Annual Frances N. Roddy Open Competition. With over 522 entries my collage was one of only 95 pieces to be exhibited. The show runs from Sep 18th to Oct 17th.

Event Dates: Saturday October 2 and October 3 (Rain Date)

Member artists are invited to participate in this year's Heyday Event co-sponsored by the Audubon Society and the Princeton Arts Society.

This year's event promises to be even more successful than 2009 – with more of everything including food, music, activities, and most importantly lots of attendees!

PAS has reserved most of the large barn with wonderful space for exhibiting, demonstrating, and selling art work. Lighting, tables, and chairs will be provided for artists.

PAS is inviting member artists to reserve space now by contacting Len Haug at len.haug@princeton-ma.us or 978-464-2952.

Artists can participate in one of two ways:

1. Be present for the event. Participants will have a 6 X 6 wall space with a 3 X 6 foot table and chair to exhibit their work. Participants will be asked to demonstrate their art or just be available to discuss their art with attendees. In return, participating artists can sell their work with no PAS or Audubon commission taken.

2. Not be present, but submit work to PAS for exhibiting at the Event. PAS will oversee any sales and take the standard 25% commission. In turn, PAS will share 50% of the commission taken with the Audubon Society.

Reservations are on a first come –first serve bases so contact Len Haug now to reserve your space or to indicate your interest in exhibiting a selection of your work. Don't miss out on one of the most heavily visited events in Princeton and forfeit a lot of fun and some possible sales. While we encourage art work that focuses on farm-related and rural landscape-based subjects, all categories of art and art media appropriate for family viewing is eligible for inclusion in the exhibit.

Open Studio

MY!  The week just flew, and now it's time for another open studio.  Last weeks was great fun -- Field Trip!  Judy T. and Beth M. gave us tours of their studios.  They have great spaces for their work. 

Len brought back the piece he's been working on for our comments.  Its been great seeing this piece evolve over the weeks -- I was afraid we were not going to see it again after the previous week so its appearance was a pleasant surprise.  Can't wait to see the next project. 

Hope more of you can start making these Monday, 7 - 9 pm sessions.

Juried into the Cahoon Museum of American Art

Len Haug's "Moon Gazers" has been juried into the prestigious theme exhibit titled Moonstruck sponsored by the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit, MA. Len's work was only one of 24 pieces selected for the exhibit out of 177 entries submitted nation-wide by 92 artists. The exhibit will run from September 21 through November 7th.
