It was a great day of artists and nature and canoe enthusiasts all converging on the Beautiful Nashua River. This was a co-sponsored event between the Fitchburg Art Museum and the Nashoba Paddlers Inc of Groton, MA.
The day was spectacular and the colors were vibrant. For over four hours six artists and a guide, a representative of FAM, and a plein air artist, Mathew Gray, canoed an painted along with now beautiful Class B river. If you did not make the trip this time, plan on joining us next year! I highly recommend it. This photo was taken by Len Haug of two of the participants.

Life Drawing Group
Yes, it is that thime of year again, and life drawing group has cranked up for another semester at good old Worcester State University (now). We are still in the art dept., which is in the ground floor of the Gym(the building directly in front of the track on campus). This year we are meeting on Thursday eves, rather than Monday, fron 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. We are still looking for a suitable location to move to if they suddenly decide to raze the building without telling us. We have had some good suggestions, but we are open to consider more if you have any. In spite of the creeping inflation in the supermarkets, we are still keeping our fee to pay the models at $6.00 - very reasonable in todays economy. We do hope some of you will join our happy band. See you soon.
Additional info submitted by Linda Johnson:
The sessions started Sept. 16, and the weekly price includes everything including the model fee. Best deal in town. It's not really a class because there is no instruction. Members are helpful when asked for feedback and suggestions.

Portrait Marathon
![]() |
Portrait by Sid Solomon |
Boylston Avenue, Princeton, MA
Sign up to have your child's portrait drawn! He or she will sit for 30 minutes while five Princeton Art Society artists simultaneously create portrait sketches. At the end of the marathon you'll have five different sketches to choose from. Participating artists include: Sid Solomon, Sharon Bahosh, Mary Pratt, Linda Johnson, and Jean Murphy.
- Each portrait sketch is $60.00, and at least one purchase must be made. A $60.00 deposit must be made prior to the sitting. Half the money raised helps fund the Princeton Arts Society.
- Participating children must be 8 years old or older, and must be able to sit still for one 30-minute sitting.
- Portrait sketches are informal single portraits. Sketches may be in pencil, oil, charcoal or pastel, in a size chosen by the artist.
- All portrait sketches will be finished and available for selection at 3:00 the day of the sitting.
We have six sittings at 9:00, 9:50, 10:40, 12:00, 12:50, 1:40. Please contact Naoko Gomi (978-464-0532 or naokojee@hotmail.com) to reserve a sitting.
